Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the overall day to day operations of assigned staff including assigning and overseeing special projects, assisting staff, inspecting quality, and assisting mangers to complete work in the departments.

Job Duties:
  • Follow proper payroll and key procedures.
  • Collect room and floor status report sheets for assigned work areas and assign room to Housekeepers as needed.
  • Train housekeeping employees in order to achieve the standards of cleanliness in guest rooms.
  • Make recommendations and follow through on conflict resolution, coaching and counseling, and, when appropriate, disciplinary action for assigned staff.
  • Provide excellent guest service in all areas of responsibility.
  • Inspect guest rooms, including VIP, vacant, occupied and check-out rooms, to ensure the standards are being achieved by each employee.
  • Monitor the performance of floor housepersons so there are sufficient supplies on the guest floor. Inspect the hallways, stairwells, elevator, service area, guest room doors and tracks, linen closets and armoires for cleanliness and adherence to standards.
  • Know all departmental policies, procedures, and standards established by the Director of Housekeeping and the hotel.
  • Coordinate work orders in assigned areas and follow up on inspections.
  • Monitor and direct progress of housekeepers and housepersons in rooms that are undergoing deep cleaning.
  • Maintain the upkeep of all bedspreads, draperies, carpet cleaning, sheers, bedskirts, and furniture refinishing.
  • Participate in a consistent room inspection/Quality Control program which is monitored by the Director of Housekeeping.  The ability to maintain permanent records of inspections by room number and date, using computer-aided program(s). The ability to maintain records of inspections for employee files.
  • Schedule and participate in departmental meetings.
  • Make sure floor storage areas and closets are kept in an orderly and clean fashion.
  • Inspect areas to ensure all items are stocked in orderly fashion and in sufficient quantities.  Refill all supplies including bathroom and closet amenities.
  • Provide supplies/chemicals/small equipment to Housekeeping and Laundry staff, as necessary.
  • Log, acquire, and deliver guest lost and found items or answer inquiries.
  • Record and answer guests & requests and inquiries.
  • Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
  • Provide lateral service wherever is necessary in the hotel.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor at all times to everyone.
  • Embody mission, vision and values of the hotel daily.      
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:



  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Courteous and professional demeanor with excellent communication skills.
  • Two or more years of directly or indirectly related experience.
  • General understanding of housekeeping operations and procedures preferred.
  • Communication, people skills, organization skills, ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Prior work experience at a full service hotel in housekeeping preferred.
