Position Summary:
Security Manager is responsible in overseeing security operations on a daily basis. Areas of responsibilities include the protection and safety of property assets, employees, guests and property, accident and fire prevention and response. Ensures the continuous protection of guests, employees and hotel assets. Maintains logs, certifications and documents required by law and Standard Operating Procedures
Job Duties:
- Manage and supervise the day to day security force of the property to ensure the safety and security of all guests, personnel and property.
- Review and conduct performance evaluations for Security staff.
- Implement all policies and procedures regarding security and safety.
- Certify all new hires in CPR and 1st aid within 15 days of employment.
- Design and implement preventive safety and security programs.
- Prevent situations that could jeopardize the reputation of the hotel.
- Investigate crimes committed against the hotel, guests, and employees.
- Document all incidents occurring in the hotel in connection with crime, subversions, potential liabilities and insurance requirements. And in documenting such activities remain objective, and write a comprehensive report.
- Assist hotel staff in handling of unusual guest or employee problems, such as, but not limited to, disorderly conduct, thefts, suicides, bomb threats, employee or guest accidents, fire or safety hazards, robberies, terrorist activities, civil disturbance, power or elevator failures, medical assistance and natural disasters.
- Select, train, schedule, discipline and direct security personnel in all aspects of security policies and procedures, as well as Hotel Irvine service standards.
- Keep abreast of developments within the hotel and community as they relate to security as well as act as a liaison with local law-enforcement agencies.
- Remain informed of current Federal and local laws and regulations as they relate to the hotel, particularly in areas of guest, patron and employee rights.
- Take an active role in the development and implementation of the hotel's evacuation plan.
- In addition to testing the hotel’s Fire and Emergency Response preparedness.
- Take responsibility for all training related to the hotel's emergency procedures, and conduct bi-annual evacuation drills.
- Develop a yearly budget for the department.
- Control the key, lock system, alarm system, and fire protection system.
- Chair the Safety Committee in the hotel.
- Respond properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation.
- Perform other tasks or projects as assigned by hotel management and staff.
- Execute all tasks of a security officer.
- Provide lateral service wherever is necessary in the hotel
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times to everyone
- Embody mission, vision and values of the hotel daily
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
Education and/or Experience- Prefer applicants with a College Degree in Hotel or Hospitality but not necessary, Business, or related field. Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language, using the hotel computer system and phone system.
Customer service experience required, high energy, enthusiastic, high degree of organization, excellent communication skills & flexible hours (preferably AM)
Background must demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills
Mathematical Skills – Basic Math
Language Skills- Ability to read and understand all instructions. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group situation.
Reasoning Ability- Deductive and Inductive Reasoning/Resourcefulness
Other Skills and Abilities- Communication, people skills, organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, ability to effectively respond to hotel emergency or safety situation based on hotel standards and ability to guide, support and assist in the training and development Guest Service Agents. Take ownership of problems and have excellent problem-solving skills.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $64,800.00 - $74,300.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
