Position Summary:

Responsible for following all instructions from Banquets management to ensure all function spaces are set up to hotel/resort/client standards.  They set up and breakdown a function in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Must maintain a professional appearance and friendly attitude toward guests, other employees and management staff. 

Job Duties:

  • Work as team player with all Banquets staff.
  • Review the Banquets and assignment schedule and ensure prompt arrival for set up process.
  • Set up the event spaces with materials and equipment according to banquet request orders, including tables, chairs, podiums, beverage stations and flooring.
  • Retrieve requested materials, props, crates and boxes from the receiving area and deliver to the appropriate room when needed.
  • Maintain the appearance of banquet and meeting rooms, including vacuuming, dusting, shampooing carpets, cleaning mirrors, marble and other related items.
  • Maintain an adequate stock of clean linen and take dirty linen to the laundry area.
  • Break down the event space at the conclusion of the function and store materials and equipment properly.
  • Remain up-to-date on events within hotel/resort.
  • Strictly adhere to the rules and regulations established in the employee handbook and the hotel/resort’s policies.
  • Follow proper payroll, uniform, and grooming policies and procedures.
  • Attend and contribute to all staff meetings, pre-shift meetings, other departmental and hotel meetings and/or training as scheduled.
  • Responds properly in any hotel emergency or safety situation and is well versed in all procedures 
  • Utilizing the10’-5’-3’ rule in all interactions.
  • Recognize and address any problems resulting from guest complaints, intoxication or disruptive behavior.
  • Notify management of unsafe conditions, needed maintenance of tables, chairs, carpet and/or equipment and any accidents.
  • Follow all procedures when responding to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested by Banquets management.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working as a Houseperson, preferably in a high-end or luxury hotel/resort environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
  • Must have current California Food Handlers Card or willingness and ability to obtain California Food Handlers Card before the first day of employment.
  • Ability to work a variety of schedules including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

Compensation:

Base Pay Start Rate: $16.00
