Position Summary:

The Bartender is responsible for creating a memorable bar/restaurant experience for our guests by delivering exceptional service in accordance to Pelican Hill standards. A Bartender provides friendly, personalized service to guests, and maintain good working relationships with staff and management.

Job Duties:

  • Take food and drink orders accurately and notify kitchen of order following department procedures.
  • The ability to develop a complete working knowledge of the menu items and their ingredients and preparation.
  • The ability to develop a complete working knowledge of all products served by the bar, i.e. liquors, wines, beers, specialty drinks etc.
  • The ability to understand the menu and daily specials as well as what is 86’d.
  • The ability to perform on going side work in the bar during service.
  • The ability to ensure that all details of service are performed properly and that every guest receives the highest quality of service.
  • The ability to utilize the restaraunts computer system ringing up sales, printing checks, closing checks and completing closing readings. 
  • The ability to ensure proper pouring, mixing, blending, etc. of drinks.
  • The ability to service all drinks for bar area along with food items in the seating areas. 
  • The ability to keep the bar area neat and tidy at all times clearing dishes and glassware whenever possible.
  • The ability to ensure that the bar is stocked and all side opening and closing duties are completed.
  • The ability to greet each guest promptly, courteously, graciously with eye contact, a smile and good posture.
  • The ability to recognize and address potential intoxicated, disruptive or undesirable guests using his/her T.I.P.’s training. 
  • Be familiar with daily specials and present to guest.
  • Ensure consistency in preparation and presentation of food and drink items before serving to guest.
  • Follow all standard food handling, sanitation and health department guidelines.
  • Recognize and address any problems resulting from guest complaints, intoxication or disruptive behavior.
  • Notify management of unsafe conditions, needed maintenance of tables, chairs, carpet and/or equipment and any accidents.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

Experience:

  • Minimum one (1) year experience working as a Server/Barista/Bartender.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

  • Must have current California Food Handler Card or willingness and ability to obtain California Food Handling Card before first day of employment.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be 21 years of age or over.
  • Below Waist Lift - 37 lbs.
  • Above Waist Lift - 30 lbs.
  • Push/Pull - 30 lbs of force.
  • Stoop/Bend at Waist - Occasionally.
  • Ladder climbing - Occasionally.
  • Single-leg Balance - Required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to use fingers to input orders into touch screen POS system.
  • Ability to use arms and hands to carry and deliver orders.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to use hand to swipe card through POS system.
  • Ability to use writing implement.
  • Ability to use fingers, wrists and hands lift and grip plates weighing up to 5 lbs.
  • Ability to use fingers, wrists and hands to lift 20 lb trays full of plates.
  • Ability to use hands to set up jack stand.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with guests and other employees in an effective and respectful manner.
     

Compensation:

Base Pay Start Rate: $16.00
This position may receive gratuities or may participate in a tip pool.
