Position Summary:
Reports to the Sr. Manager, Finance & Investments
The Finance & Investments group provides analysis, advisory, decision support for investment activities, annual business plan, quarterly forecasts, and monthly financial reporting for the Apartment Development division. This position will support both new development underwriting and financial planning/analysis functions for the division.
Job Duties:
- Provide dedicated support to Finance & Investments (50%) and Financial Planning and Analysis (50%), ensuring collaboration and timely assistance across both functions
- Support the development of quarterly forecast, annual budget, and long-term plan
- Prepare recurring and ad-hoc consolidated capital spend/project-level reporting and analyses
- Cross-functional collaboration with project teams to maintain accuracy of project financials and attributes
- Support the administration of the Portfolio and Project Management (PPM) system on the SAP platform and associated BI reporting data model, including maintaining data integrity and collaborating on and implementing system enhancements
- Feasibility analysis, underwriting, and performance tracking for new projects
- Preparation of key deliverables to support investment decisions, including capital request memos, financial exhibits, board materials, and internal executive communication
- Coordinate with subject matter experts in the division to collect latest information and model assumptions; focus on facilitating highly collaborative processes and developing strong working relationships
- Manage the structure and continued improvement of core underwriting and data modeling tools; supplement with streamlined, repeatable processes
- Develop financial models and analytic frameworks to support new strategic initiatives
- Assist in the design and implementation of processes, systems, or software to provide foundational support for a robust, data driven environment
This position will not only interact with departments in the Apartment Development division, but will also have the opportunity to gain exposure to other finance teams and career paths across Irvine Company, such as:
Real Estate Investment & Analytics – Responsible for review and advisory for all real estate investment activities across the Company
Portfolio Management – Responsible for collaborating across the Apartments division to identify financial performance improvements through understanding, analyzing, and assessing the financial impact of operating activities, and recommending actionable operational change
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
- Strong Academic Background. Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field.
- Proven Analytic Capabilities. Minimum two years of relevant experience within corporate finance, investment banking, consulting, commercial real estate, or public accounting; multifamily experience a plus. Must have excellent Microsoft Excel and data modeling skills. Strong understanding of corporate finance with a focus on investment analysis and project performance metrics required. Understanding of accounting concepts, Google suite, Tableau, Webi, and SAP a plus.
- Superior Communication Skills. This position will be expected to interact in a professional office environment with individuals at all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will be able to develop credibility across the Company through quality of work product and interactions with key business partners. Experience preparing executive materials or presentations is a plus.
- Self-Motivated Work Style. Must be comfortable taking initiative to learn and own work product and process. This position requires being highly organized and sharing the Company’s passion for attention to detail. Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $96,200.00 - $122,400.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
