Position Summary:

The SP&A Research team serves as the primary source of economic, demographic, and sector-level information used as macro context for strategic decision making at Irvine Company. The group is a centralized, Corporate function and supports all operating divisions. Applicants have the opportunity to gain insight into and influence operating / growth strategies for multiple property types in a dynamic environment. 

Job Duties:

  • Serve as the day-to-day workflow and deliverable production “backbone” for the Research group; closely support team leader on all workflow needs. 
  • Produce high-quality strategic research to inform forward strategy objectives, driven by coverage of key issues and trends impacting commercial real estate and the Company.
  • Track and report on economic, demographic, and real estate forecasts at the national, state, and local level; update the Company’s economic view for quarterly Board of Directors meetings. 
  • Proactively identify workflows / distributable “intel” stemming from changing market conditions.
  • Regularly analyze public REIT competitors for benchmarking purposes and strategy insight.
  • Provide economic context for reinvestment, operating, acquisition, and development deliverables.
  • Assist in management of the Company’s research subscriptions and platform.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • Strong Academic & Professional Background. Bachelor’s degree from a reputable university (MBA is a plus) and demonstrated success in a related full-time professional role, with 5–7 years of experience preferred.
  • Research Interest. Demonstrated interest in a career focused on analytic research / strategy. Ideal candidate has analytic mindset, enjoys writing, and is passionate about helping shape operating / growth strategies. Candidate must enjoy a standalone research role; IC’s research team supports acquisition / development strategy and collaborates with the internal investment functions, but is not responsible for underwriting capital investment opportunities.
  • Intellectual Curiosity. Strives for thought leadership, diverse perspective, and creative approach within all work product. Keen awareness of the “big picture”; self-starter with curious mind.
  • Extreme Attention to Detail. Highly values precision and perfection in all submitted work product. Fast-paced deadlines at Irvine Company never sacrifice intellectual rigor or emphasis on formatting.
  • Collaborative Team Player. Collaborative mentality with ability to build relationships and resourcefully obtain information for research production; proactively and professionally communicates to all levels.
  • Organized / Adaptive. Able to efficiently and productively manage ever-changing priorities and demands on a lean team; fluid prioritization and communication are essential.


Base Pay Range: $99,800.00 - $139,300.00


Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
