Position Summary:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for working safely, providing an exceptional customer experience, and completing assigned tasks related to the maintenance and repair of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building maintenance.                                                                           

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proactive management of customer experience-related systems (e.g., comfort, lighting, fault detection, restrooms, leak detection, etc.). Perform customer service requests, preventive maintenance (PMs), and projects to ensure target results are achieved.
  • Perform the core duties of a facility technician, specializing in lighting, minor electrical, basic plumbing (restrooms/kitchens), and general building repairs (e.g., carpentry, drywall, ceiling tiles, flooring).
  • Assist the team with the daily operation, maintenance, and repair of all major building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing), and conduct required fire pump and emergency generator run tests.
  • Maintain professionalism, and promptly respond to, prioritize, complete, and follow up on customer service requests using the company's work order system.
  • Report all known safety hazards and equipment issues, maintain a clean and safe work area, and perform all duties in compliance with relevant codes and regulations.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance on building equipment as directed on more advanced HVAC, electrical, and plumbing work when required.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies to maintain stock and inventory control, and coordinate maintenance efforts with outside contractors as directed by the supervisor.
  • Respond quickly to emergencies and inspect buildings and grounds for malfunctioning equipment or unsafe conditions, reporting findings to the supervisor.                                                                                                      

Additional Skills:

  • Proven mechanical aptitude, customer service skills, decision-making/problem-solving skills, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic hand/power tools
  • Basic computer skills preferred but not required

Preferred Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent experience)

Preferred Years of Relevant Work Experience:

  • 0 - 2 years
  • This is an entry-level position; no prior experience specific to office building maintenance is required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Use of hand and power tools and other maintenance equipment
  • The physical requirements for this position include: Below waist lift - 78lbs, Above waist lift - 78lbs, Overhead/kneeling/work bending over (sustained) - Occasional, Unilateral balance - Average of 20 seconds or more per leg, Ladder climb - Occasional
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive baseline medical evaluation, including a multi-system physical assessment (ENT, cardiovascular, respiratory, musculoskeletal) and vision screenings for distance and color acuity.
  • This position, depending on physical location, may require:
    • Valid California driver’s license; Maintain continuous vehicle liability insurance as required by state law. (This role requires the regular and frequent operation of a vehicle, as defined in the Company’s MVR policy, and is part of the essential duties of this position.)

Base Pay Range: $28.03 - $35.43

 

Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
