Position Summary:

 

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a savvy, agile, hands-on, customer-centric, and forward-thinking marketing professional to market one of the most unique shopping destinations in the country.  The position is primarily responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies both short and long term for the center that strengthen and promote brand awareness, sales and traffic. Focus on delivering an uncompromising, ever-evolving and memorable experience for merchants and visitors, in line with corporate goals & consumer trends.   
 

Job Duties:


Marketing

  • Develops marketing strategies, both short and long term for the center that strengthen and promote brand awareness, sales and traffic, with achievable stated goals for driving sales, traffic and customer outreach.  
  • Develops and maintains valued merchant relations, including providing marketing assistance and exposure for new or high-priority tenants.
  • Builds and nurtures relationships with critical community partners to drive loyalty and support (e.g Visit Newport Beach, NB Chamber.)
  • Analyze and measure the traffic and/or sales impact resulting from marketing efforts, when possible (e.g. collect participating merchants sales results vs. the prior year)
  • Hands-on program management/execution.
  • Provides detailed work orders for operations on set-up and tear down.
  • Manages the lease required advertising audit process.
  • Monitors industry, retail and brand trends.

 
Media Management 

  • Lead integrated messaging execution for Fashion Island across all platforms.
  • Devises strategies to drive online traffic to website and social sites.
  • Helps monitor competing centers and brands' online presence.
  • Hires and directs ad agency partners to develop and execute creative for all mediums.
  • Work closely with PR and social media agencies.
  • Manage directory and on-site signage content.
  • Produce Fashion Island Magazine quarterly.
     

 

 

Job Duties Continued:

 

Partnerships

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with neighboring Irvine Company owned retail, office, resorts, and apartment properties to develop mutually beneficial plans to drive traffic and sales to the center and support the initiatives of our other properties.  
  • Assists Director of Partnership Marketing on opportunities and activations.
  • Collaborates with the larger Retail and corporate marketing team; ability to pivot from leader to support/execution team when corporate takes the lead. 
  • Manages tourism marketing plan and outreach.
  • Support and partner with other departments in Retail: leasing, design, finance, tenant coordination. 
  • Executes corporate marketing initiatives.
  • Supports Personal Shopping Program with marketing and/or PR efforts. 

 

Financial Administration

  • Prepares the center's annual Marketing Plan formulation and budget.
  • Directs expenditures and income to accomplish planned goals.
  • Completes and monitors account reconciliations and approves all invoices.
  • Prepares financial forecasts and adjusts expenses, as needed, throughout the year.

 
Personnel

  • Hires, onboards and manages personnel placed under direct supervision, when applicable.
  • Regular evaluation of employees/consultants and reviews performance, when applicable.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

 

  • Minimum of 10 years of retail marketing experience(luxury experience preferred).
  • Outstanding strategic planning skills, a solid understanding of business relationships, and the knowledge, intellect and temperament to work at all levels to ensure alignment. 
  • A high degree of personal initiative, as well as outstanding interpersonal, teamwork, listening, verbal, written communications and process facilitation skills.
  • Exhibit strong counseling and strategic skills with the ability to work in an evolving environment and balance the needs of various internal and external stakeholders; high tolerance for change and stress; flexibility and steady temperament. Innately creative and flexible in nature. 
  • Forward-thinking leader with the ability to create strategy, drive decisions and take action quickly with little direction and supervision.
  • Ability to turn complex business issues and opportunities into simple, executable, results- driven solutions.
  • Collaborative, social and consumer centric by nature.  Accustomed to managing multiple customers simultaneously. 
  • Adept at juggling multiple priorities and deadlines without sacrificing quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, collaborative, self-motivated and fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to synthesize information from numerous sources to create innovative strategies.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to influence others.
