Position Summary:

The Director, Architecture will participate in the design review and construction administration/observation of these communities, ensuring they meet our high quality, functionality, and aesthetic appeal standards. This includes collaborating with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to bring the vision to life. 
The Director, Architecture will contribute to reinvestment and repair projects by assessing current properties, identifying areas for improvement, and developing design solutions to elevate the resident experience, enhance sustainability, and align with evolving trends and preferences. 

Job Duties:

  • Work under the direct supervision of a Senior Director of Architecture.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to develop and implement architectural plans for new apartment communities, reinvestment projects, and repair projects.
  • Create innovative and functional designs that prioritize resident experience, sustainability, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Review and provide direction on architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documents. 
  • Collaborate with construction teams during the implementation phase to ensure design intent is realized. 
  • Manage the design process through delivery.
  • Collaborate on architectural detailing and interior design, both internally and externally.
  • Coordinate construction drawings and schedules. 
  • Interface with Construction Director/General Contractor on requests for information, constructability, and design issues.
  • Review and approve material submittals. 
  • Attend Owner Architect Contractor (OAC) meetings and weekly construction walks to evaluate progress and compliance with plans and resolve issues in the field.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in an architecture discipline or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in design project management of apartment/multi-family housing and mixed-use projects
  • Able to read architectural plans and have a strong knowledge of architectural and construction detailing
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or related software
  • Proficient in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop: Optional 
  • Proficient in Bluebeam or related software

Other: 

  • Able to read architectural plans and have a strong knowledge of architectural and construction detailing
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp or related software

  • Valid driver’s license; valid vehicle insurance
  • This role requires the regular and frequent operation of a vehicle, as defined in the Company's MVR policy, and is part of the essential duties of this position.
     

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $127,600.00 - $168,900.00

 

Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
