Position Summary:

The position is primarily responsible for developing marketing strategies both short and long term for the center that addresses center/tenant weaknesses, strengthens and promotes overall sales and traffic growth.  Focus on delivering an uncompromising, ever-evolving and memorable  customer experience for merchants and visitors in line with corporate goals & consumer trends.

Job Duties:


  • Develops marketing strategies, both short and long term for center, with achievable stated goals for driving sales, traffic and customer outreach.  Addresses center/tenant weaknesses, strengths and promotes overall sales and traffic growth
  • Develops and maintains valued merchant relations, including providing marketing assistance and exposure for new, struggling or high-performing tenants that leads to increased sales and high NPS scores.
  • Builds and nurtures trust-based relationships with critical community partners to drive loyalty and support:  Visit Newport Beach, NB Chamber, critical charities and their leadership, etc.
  • Integrating analysis as part of programming/event creation to ensure that we are driving sales.
  • Hands-on program management/execution.
  • Provides detailed work orders for operations on set-up and tear down.
  • Manages the lease required advertising audit process



Media Management

  • Lead integrated messaging execution for Fashion Island across all platforms
  • Devises strategies to drive online traffic to website and social sites.
  • Helps monitor competing centers and brands online presence
  • Hires and directs ad agency to develop and execute creative for all mediums
  • Work closely with PR and social media agencies
  • Manage directory and on-site signage content
  • Produce Fashion Island Magazine quarterly


  • Creates and maintains partnership with IC neighboring retail, office, resorts, residential and apartment properties to develop mutually beneficial plans to drive traffic and sales to the center and support the initiatives of our sister properties.
  • Assists Director of Partnership Marketing on opportunities and activations.
  • Collaborates with the larger Retail marketing team
  • Manages tourism marketing plan and outreach
  • Support and partner with other departments in Retail: leasing, design, finance, tenant coordination.
  • Supports Personal Shopping Program with marketing and/or PR efforts


Financial Administration

  • Prepares center’s annual Marketing Plan formulation and budget
  • Directs expenditures and income to accomplish planned goals
  • Completes and monitors account reconciliations and approves all invoices
  • Adjusts expenses, as needed, throughout the year



  • Hires, on boards and manages personnel placed under direct supervision, when applicable
  • Regular evaluation of employees/consultants and reviews performance, when applicable.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working as a member of a Senior Marketing management leadership team at the Director level, serving as an expert in leading a successful marketing program and team.
  • Outstanding strategic planning skills, a solid understanding of business relationships, and the knowledge, intellect and temperament to work at all levels to ensure alignment.
  • A high degree of personal initiative, as well as outstanding interpersonal, teamwork, listening, verbal, written communications and process facilitation skills.
  • Exhibit strong counseling and strategic skills with the ability to work in an evolving environment and balance the needs of various internal and external stakeholders; high tolerance for change and stress; flexibility and steady temperament. Innately creative and flexible in nature.
  • Forward-thinking leader with the ability to create strategy, drive decisions and take action quickly with little direction and supervision.
  • Ability to turn complex business issues and opportunities into simple, executable, results- driven solutions
  • Collaborative, social and consumer centric by nature.  Accustomed to managing multiple customers simultaneously.
  • Adept at juggling multiple priorities and deadlines without sacrificing quality
