Position Summary

Responsible for ensuring guests are offered an enjoyable stay reflecting the high customer service standards of hotel/resort. Ensure all details of service are performed properly and every guest receives the highest quality of service. A Bartender must maintain a professional appearance and friendly attitude toward guests, other employees and management staff. 

Job Duties - Essential Functions

  • Maintain proper and adequate set-up of the bar on a daily basis including requisitioning and stocking liquor, beer, wine, juices, soft drinks, garnishments, condiments and glassware.
  • Mix, garnish and present drinks using standard ingredients and practicing prudent portion control.
  • Be prepared to describe products served and make recommendations as requested.
  • Handle cash, charge and credit card transactions accurately and in accordance with company policies and procedures. 
  • Recognize and notify management of any problems resulting from guest complaints, intoxication or disruptive behavior.
  • Notify management of unsafe conditions, needed maintenance of tables, chairs, carpet and/or equipment and any accidents.
  • Follow all procedures when responding to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications - Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Possess current health department certifications required to work in a restaurant.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience working as a Bartender, preferably in a hotel/resort environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
  • Must have current California Food Handler Card or willingness and ability to obtain California Food Handling Card before first day of employment.
  • Must have TIPs training certificate shortly after beginning employment.
  • Ability work a variable schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
