Position Summary:
The Vice President, Business Innovation leads a team that delivers innovation initiatives and scalable business solutions for the Apartment Communities division. The role’s key responsibilities include setting the future innovation vision and planning for the Division, including developing strategies and execution plans in key transformation areas such as artificial intelligence, business intelligence, process efficiency, and automation. Additional elements to the role include delivering trend analysis, industry benchmarking and thought leadership related to data and emerging technologies. This role also collaborates cross-divisionally to foster Company wide innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop a high-performing team to deliver innovation initiatives and scalable business solutions.
- Work with division leadership to develop a vision for the future of the business, including strategies and plans for execution in key areas like process efficiency, automation, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence. This includes gaining alignment on the prioritization of technology and innovation initiatives, and ensuring that the division is appropriately organized to support priority initiatives.
- Become the strategic architect to align technology initiatives with long-term business outcomes including (i) overseeing the lifecycle of new solutions, from scouting technologies to managing pilots and full-scale implementation, and (ii) evaluating whether to develop proprietary internal tools or partner with external providers.
- Foster innovation and growth within the Apartment Operations division by identifying market trends, providing competitor benchmarking, thought leadership, and direction on data and emerging technologies. Additionally, facilitate enterprise-wide innovation through cross-divisional collaboration and sharing of information, technology, and best practices.
- Manage and evaluate all incoming technology requests, including new capabilities, enhancements, and support requests for the division. Collaborate with division leaders and IT to develop project business cases and annual budgets aligned with business objectives, ensuring divisional leadership is kept informed of timing, scope, cost, and risks associated with priority initiatives.
- Support divisional leaders in maximizing adoption of new technology and implementing training plans.
- Establish and supervise business-centered project management processes that are closely aligned with the IT Software Development Life Cycle (SLDC).
- Partner with IT to facilitate leveraging data and analytics, align new technologies with business objectives, coordinate project and support activities, and manage budget and project timelines.
Additional Skills:
- Experience working in IT, business systems, or AI related fields.
- Experience in data governance establishing standardized data rules to ensure that insights are based on reliable, clean infrastructure.
- Having a basic understanding of how specific technologies impact the "built environment” including AI and automation to manage on-site workflows, predictive maintenance, energy optimization, and component part lifecycles.
- Change management capabilities including persuading stakeholders to adopt new digital workflows and managing any internal disruption.
- Financial literacy to maintain the ability to link innovation to financial objectives including, for example improving Net Operating Income (NOI) or Return on investment (ROI).
Preferred Education:
- Masters of Business Administration or Bachelor's degree with equivalent experience
Preferred Years of Relevant Work Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience leading or collaborating with diverse teams on large-scale, company-wide initiatives
- Demonstrated experience with project management as well as the development, strategic direction, and implementation of large scale innovation initiatives
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $261,000.00 - $323,500.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
