Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Vice President/Senior Vice President, the Vice President, Community Management is responsible for driving internal community management operations with a primary focus on maximizing the net operating income of the company’s assets. This executive will help continue to develop and implement the operating strategy of the division. Working in partnership with other key members of the executive team, the Vice President, Community Management will develop and oversee the strategic plan for their assigned region. This person will work closely with other executives who oversee key disciplines within the division including Marketing, Maintenance, Customer Experience, Reinvestment and Portfolio Management.

Job Duties:

  • Lead assigned Regional community operational functions (Sales, RSO, Maintenance)
  • Ensure execution of ICAC strategy
  • Establish vision for Regional team, promote a rewarding environment and cultivate a high-performing team utilizing At Our Core
  • Monitor and achieve Regional business plan financial targets as well as other assigned KPI's
  • Monitor effectiveness and inform on Community Management structure, retention goals; conduct succession planning
  • Administration and adherence to policies and procedures; Identify efficiencies and inform policy and procedure changes for governance review
  • Ensure resident/customer satisfaction
  • Ensure proper physical presentation and day-to-day maintenance occurs for the assigned Region
  • Ensure healthy Community Management Operations partnership with other ICAC and ICAD departments

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

Education: Bachelor’s degree requirement; MBA preferred


  • 10+ years experience in apartment management
  • Proven experience to manage, lead and recruit team in various locations
  • Demonstrated experience in financial planning and analysis
  • Strong customer service background with the ability to continue to improve the resident experience
  • Experience with implementation and execution of value-add investment strategies
  • Demonstrated experience with applying technology to improve business operations in a cost-effective manner

Authority: Direction is provided for assignments in terms of desired outcomes (goals), timing and budget. Work is reviewed/measured in terms of meeting organizational objectives.

Certifications (if any): CA Real Estate License Required; Brokers License Preferred

Other (including physical, motor vehicle, travel, or handling of biological materials or hazardous waste):

  • Valid driver's license; valid vehicle insurance
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Occassional travel required
