Position Summary:

Perform the primary responsibilities of the Sr. Safety Manager for the Irvine Company Apartments Communities. The Sr. Safety Manager will maintain a safe and healthful environment by identifying and anticipating incidents and hazards and working to control potential hazards. Supervise and implement the Safety & Health procedures, educate staff and enforce policy and procedures. Interface with Corporate Risk Management in managing the Workers Compensation claim process.

Job Duties:

  • Plans, communicates, and implements the company’s safety programs and policies to help reduce injuries and ensure compliance with Cal/OSHA and other applicable standards.
  • Collaborates with Risk Management and Corporate Safety on matters related to workers compensation and safety.
  • Provides training reports from the Learning Resource Center (LRC).
  • Assists managers at all levels on how to effectively use the LRC to manage completion of employee safety training.
  • Assist with injury investigations and conducts follow-up with managers to ensure measures taken to prevent recurrences are effectively implemented.
  • Conducts on-site safety audits to ensure established safety programs and policies are effectively implemented.
  • Develops and facilitates the implementation of written emergency procedures at ICAC.
  • Conducts detailed loss analysis and identifies/implements measures to mitigate identified trends.
  • Performs the functions of IIPP Administrator and provides monthly safety incident reports to Leadership.
  • Oversee the safety program to include analysis of safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to rationalize the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.
  • Monitor training compliance to Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Follow up as needed with MOD etc
  • Lead the development of risk mitigation tools such as accident prevention plans, safe operating procedures, job safety analysis (JSA), and monthly safety meetings. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent injury.
  • Leads the Safety Committee Responsibilities and Safety Recognition Program.
  • Buildings Fire and Life Safety Systems Management - ensures all systems are compliant, inspections completed and updated in Building Reports. Provides monthly reports and takes follow up action as necessary.
  • Building Systems Engineering (FM Global or Equivalent) Review report submitted by (partner) that outlines where we are at risk for claims; review/implement recommended actions
  • Business continuity - Attend monthly meetings and project manage key activities such as fire drills, etc.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in experience in related field is preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience within the multi-family and/or safety industry.
  • A Certification in Safety and Health is encouraged (CSP or ASP preferred)
  • 5+ years experience in a Safety and Health environment preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Google Apps experience is a plus.
