Position Summary:

The Senior Community Manager is responsible for leading on-site phases of operations of a super-building or multiple communities in a neighborhood (“operating unit”), including, but not limited to, direct supervision and development of the on-site resident services and/or maintenance teams, financial performance to budget, and community preservation and  aesthetics. The position provides inspirational leadership, successfully promotes company values, and creates an environment of exceptional customer service for residents, prospects, and vendors. 

A Senior Community Manager may have a Community Manager or more than one Assistant Manager reporting directly into them; responsibilities include an increased level of complexity based on unit count, satellite locations, varying product types, retail spaces, and/or demanding clientele. 

Additional skills required for Sr. Community Managers include but are not limited to: time-management, effective verbal and written communication, organization, engaging and leading teams from a distance.
The Senior Community Manager provides necessary support of leading large teams and navigating complex communities, while preparing to be a successor for a future General Manager role.
 

Job Duties:

  • Assists General Manager in developing, effectively communicating, and executing strategic plans for the operating unit.
  • Supports General Manager to ensure goals/expectations are well-communicated and achieved. Prioritizes well, delegates appropriately, and holds team members accountable for performance.
  • Oversees daily operations of the operating unit, which includes resident services and/or maintenance.  
  • Creates a well-organized, customer service-focused culture for residents, prospects, vendors and employees; ensures that resident and corporate requests and concerns are promptly responded to and resolved; leads by example and ensures a proactive approach is adopted for all key customer touch points.
  • Responsible for training, onboarding, and development of all team members with focus on employee engagement and retention. Leads, coaches and develops direct reports to create a culture of excellence, good time management practices, regular 1:1s, and continuous learning. 
  • Embraces and promotes new technology; finds efficiencies by maximizing its utilization.
  • Manages financial performance of the operating unit to include accountability for budget variances, providing input for budget and forecast planning, and identifying opportunities to increase revenue.
  • Regularly inspects all communities in the operating unit and ensures the condition and quality meet Irvine Company standards at all times.
  • Anticipates and proactively addresses resident relations and/or maintenance challenges.
  • Partners with Senior Director, General Manager, and Leasing Manager to address traffic and prospect challenges, and proactively makes weekly pricing recommendations.
  • Performs audits and community inspections to ensure policies, procedures and corporate compliance are followed at all times.
  • Responsible for healthy collaboration and partnership within the region, other division departments, and across Company divisions.
     

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

Education & Experience: 

  • High school diploma. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related leadership experience.
  • Business acumen with ability to read and interpret financial statements.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
     

Other: 

  • Industry certifications encouraged (CPM, Real Estate License).
  • Valid driver’s license; valid vehicle insurance.
  • This role requires the regular and frequent operation of a vehicle, as defined in the Company's MVR policy, and is part of the essential duties of this position.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.  Multilingual ability a plus.
  • On call as needed for after hours emergencies.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Occasional out-of-town travel may be required.
  • Proficient computer skills and with software such as Google Calendar, Sheets, and Docs.

Compensation:

Base Pay Range: $96,600.00 - $132,000.00

 

Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
