Position Summary:

The Cloud Architecture role is responsible for detailed architecture planning, design, and oversight of all cloud projects. This individual is the go-to technical resource for IT cloud systems, including cloud based services and networking. The right candidates will possess a combination of strong technical competencies with a proven technical leadership, solid planning skills with a proven track record leading cloud projects, placing stability and reliability as their primary objective. Attention to detail is critical.

Job Duties:

  • Develop a plan with milestones to migrate all resources within the on-prem data center to the cloud within 5 years (most systems should move within 2 years).
  • Develops new and modifies existing cloud functions to support business processes by mapping cloud platform / infrastructure components, identifying dependencies across systems / platforms with a focus of security, availability, recoverability, performance, integrity, and supportability.
  • Develop multi-cloud networking frameworks that covers IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, private data center, corporate and guest SD-WAN environments.
  • Develop and architect private and public cloud strategy and design principles.
  • Ensure ongoing monitoring of cloud resources and provide appropriate KPI and analytics. 
  • Collaborate with stakeholders from business divisions, applications and platforms teams and capture requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with IT leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs, ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs, and responding with agility to changing business priorities.
  • Work closely with the VP of Technology & Innovation, Sr Director IT Infrastructure, and the Manager of Cloud Services to ensure the integrity of the cloud infrastructure.
  • Remain current with emerging technology and its applicability to our business. Conduct research and develop a culture of innovation and exploration. 
  • Take point on urgent or complex cloud issues, ensuring appropriate actions are taken and root cause is determined.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:


  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems management, or equivalent work experience.



  • Successfully led complex cross-functional cloud initiatives (i.e., network cloud connectivity, SaaS integration), providing direction, establishing consistency, and communicating a unified cloud vision across Irvine Company.
  • Successful track record developing cloud architectural standards, defining and implementing consistent, repeatable workloads.
  • 6-8 years of experience as Solution Design Architect.
  • 6-8 years of experience of storage infrastructure (SAN, NAS, NFS) along with Cloud native services (AWS, GC, Azure Storage)
  • Network architecture experience with IP networking, VPN, DNS, load balancing & firewalls.
  • Experience in the introduction of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and Policy-as-Code (PaC).
  • Experience as an IaaS SME: Demonstrate technical expertise working with the team solving org wide infrastructure challenges.
  • Hands-on experience architecting, engineering and managing cloud solutions on Google, AWS and/or Azure.
  • Hands-on experience architecting, engineering and managing cloud solutions on Google, AWS and/or Azure.  GCP specific experience includes App Engine, Compute, Kubernetes, REST API, Bigtable.Experience with end-to-end software development methodologies and tool chains including server configuration, build automation, version control, release automation, etc. 
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum project teams, designing, developing, and supporting critical cloud solutions.
