Position Summary:

The Manager, Internal Communications will be responsible for developing and executing internal communication programs and activities to engage and inform Associates across Irvine Company. The position is responsible for supporting all internal communication needs in collaboration with the Sr. Director, Internal Communications. The Manager, Internal Communications will work collaboratively with stakeholders within HR and across the Company to keep Associates aligned with and informed of HR programs and initiatives as well as important Company information using various communication channels and methods. The position will also contribute to recruitment marketing and social media programs. 

Job Duties:

  • Work with key stakeholders across the Company and within Human Resources to develop content and updates for internal communication and recruitment marketing channels including email, intranet, video, social media, etc.
  • Work with the HR executive leadership teams needed to deliver end-to-end communications plans for Associate announcements and news
  • Collaborate with leaders on the development of internal communications strategies, tactics, messaging and collateral 
  • Create content for company news, HR initiatives and programs, presentations, message/talking points and recruitment marketing materials and ensure they are delivered through the appropriate channel, often with fast turnaround time
  • Support Diversity & Inclusion strategy through the creation of effective messaging
  • Provide copywriting and editing support for all internal communications
  • Support the execution of change management plans and programs
  • Partner with creative and technical teams to align copy and visuals for internal communications and recruitment marketing materials
  • Develop relationships across the company and within HR to support company objectives
  • Manage work independently, with self-direction, organization and advance planning on all programs, while engaging leadership to remove hurdles and garner buy-in
  • Apply standards that promote continuity and consistency across the company’s communications practices
  • Explore, recommend, use and optimize communication methods and technologies to engage Associates
  • Other duties and projects may be assigned or requested

Additional Accountabilities:

Systems utilized:

  • Google Workspace, including Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms and Drive
  • Poppulo for email communications
  • Implementing LumApps as new company-wide intranet platform (replacing Sharepoint and SAP Jam)
  • Canva for design of visuals used in email communications and digital platforms
  • Adobe Creative Cloud applications to create content as needed, including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Premiere

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • A minimum of 5 years of internal communications experience 
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant internal communications experience.
  • Experience in employment branding, recruitment marketing and social media is a plus.
  • Demonstrated excellence with writing for employee engagement and broad-based communication.
  • Self-starter, independent thinker with excellent follow-through, requiring minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of problem-solving and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and programs simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in delivering strong executive presence and presentations.
  • Excellent collaboration & teaming skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Drive, etc)
  • Recent experience using an email campaign management system for internal communications
  • Experience managing intranet platform and content, including Company news, relevant documents and employee engagement campaigns

Other Qualifications - Preferred Experience

  • Adobe Creative Suite, or other graphics or multimedia software knowledge highly desirable
  • Video production/editing skills
  • Knowledge of intranet tools such as LumApps
  • Commercial real estate knowledge a plus
