Position Summary:
As Golf Course Superintendent, you will play a vital role in the day-to-day management of the Club's Golf Course Maintenance department. The Superintendent provides exceptional leadership, maintains the highest standards of service and facilities, and contributes to the overall success of the Club. Here are your key responsibilities:
- Assist the Director of Golf Course Maintenance in overseeing the operations of the department and its nineteen staff members.
- Ensure the department consistently delivers exceptional service and maintains the facilities at a five-star level.
- Exemplify hands-on leadership by actively participating in and collaborating with the team as needed.
- Facilitate effective communication channels and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the operational status throughout the property.
- Foster productive collaboration with other departments to achieve common goals.
Job Duties:
- The Superintendent, under the supervision of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance, will guide and partake in the upkeep of the golf courses.
- Assist in devising, organizing, and supervising the maintenance of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and surrounding landscapes.
- Maintain accurate work records for all personnel within the department with the assistance of the Director of Golf Course Maintenance.
- Regularly inspect the golf course to evaluate conditions and propose enhancements.
- Engage in daily communication with the golf shop regarding on-course activities.
- Plan professional development and training activities for subordinates, including safety training for equipment use and proper handling of fertilizers, herbicides, and all other chemicals utilized on the course; ensure that Safety Data Sheets (SDSs) are readily available.
- Instruct equipment operators on the safe, efficient operation, and care of mowing and other equipment used on the golf course.
- Maintain expertise in safety policies and procedures, including active CPR/First Aid Certification; serve as a member of the Safety committee and conduct monthly safety training for staff and any new hires; make recommendations to enhance the safety of the work environment for both employees and guests; complete timely accident reports and oversee compliance with work restrictions.
- Supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of pumps, irrigation, and drainage systems.
- Perform all other duties as directed by the Director of Golf Maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
- A degree in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, or soil science is preferred, along with certification and/or licensure in pesticide use.
- Prefer at least two years of golf course experience, preferably in the Southwest Region.
- A working knowledge of the planting, cultivation, and pruning of ornamental plants, shrubs, and trees; proper use of fertilizers and soil conditioners; pest control methods and materials; drainage methods; watering methods, practices, and irrigation systems; and equipment operation, services, and repair is essential.
- The ability to supervise and schedule work to achieve optimal utilization of employees and equipment is required.
- Knowledge of the game of golf.
- Experience with Google Suites is preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Etc.
Must hold a Qualified Applicators Certificate or obtain within 90 days of hire.

Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.

Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $66,560.00 - $96,100.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
