Position Summary:

Maximize overall revenue for the Hotel Irvine through development and implementation of effective inventory and pricing strategies based on future demand forecasts, current trends and historical data. Implement revenue management strategies as strategized with Director of Sales & Marketing. The DORM is responsible for determining the optimal mix of customers and managing the distribution strategies on all channels to drive market share. Communicate revenue management strategic vision to leadership team, sales and catering managers and reservation’s team.

Job Duties:


  • Drive Market Share and Revenue Performance through proper pricing and mix management.
  • Develop overall pricing strategy with DOSM to include all market segments and distribution channels.
  • Provide guidance on corporate transient negotiated pricing as well as group pricing.
  • Ensure Group Selective Sell Guidelines are updated on a regular basis. Ensure effective pricing strategies are in place that reflects asset strength relative to the competition in each market.
  • Effectively manage inventory and pricing strategy in all distribution channels including Branded Web (Preferred), 3rd Party Sites, Central Reservation Office (CRO), and Global Distribution System (GDS). Focus on lowering distribution costs and driving room nights to branded web.
  • Closely monitor competitive pricing and understand impact of relative pricing decisions on property performance.
  • Report key strategies that support driving topline revenues to Leadership and Ownership.
  • Create a roadmap to lead the hotel to an Optimal Business Mix which will support achieving Market Share results.
  • Review and analyze STR data on a weekly and monthly basis with Hotel Revenue Management Team.
  • Report out Weekly Performance Report on a weekly basis to analyze key drivers to market share performance and understand overall effectiveness of strategies.
  • Complete understanding and effective execution of our current and new RM tools. Currently includes Opera, SynXis, Rate360, Smith Travel reports, Channel Reports, Pace reports and any new tools or reports developed.
  • Clearly communicate to Leadership Team and the Sales and Catering team our strategic vision and objectives on how to drive revenues and improve performance. This should include Hotel performance in market share, market segment, channel metrics etc.
  • Ensure team members understand the concept of Revenue Management and the role of the DORM.
  • Lead the properties’ weekly Revenue Management Meeting and attend Daily Business Review Meeting.
  • Provide Hotel Leadership Team with regular revenue management updates.
  • Produce accurate forecast on weekly and monthly basis (frequency determined by hotel Director of Finance and Director of Sales & Marketing) for the hotel.
  • Validate comp set RevPAR forecast by month to ensure effective soft spot calendar planning.
  • Develop and update Strategic Sales Plan with the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor Reservations Manager, Systems Analyst, and other staff managers.
  • Know types of rooms, availability, as well as their location and layout.
  • Works quickly in high-pressure environment and ability to handle stress.
  • Oversee financial activities of hotel as they pertain to rooms, revenue and sales to ensure efficient operation and optimal profitability.
Job Duties Continued:
  • Responsible for possessing a vision for the hotels financial success and setting clear objectives to continually increase occupancy and revenue.
  • Keep in constant contact with the sales department to develop strategic sales plans that increase the hotel's market share and revenue.
  • Maintains proper reporting on daily, weekly and monthly reports used to measure productivity and analyze necessary data required by leadership. In addition, audit and monitor all pricing integrity for packages, negotiated rates and value-added inclusions while reconciling daily productivity for sales, catering and convention services personnel. Accurately generate and process all reports that are communicated internally and to corporate offices as scheduled or requested.
  • Works with the DOSM to ensure strategies are being followed, as well as meeting daily with DOSM to identify possible problems or opportunities. Implements and tailors the marketing mix in response to demand analysis and current situations.
  • Control room and rate availability in accordance with established guidelines to maximize occupancy and revenue.
  • Prepare and distribute occupancy and revenue forecasts and keep all department heads well informed of any unexpected changes in levels of business.
  • Handle guest complaints keeping senior management well-informed of any problems and action taken.
  • Display a high level of integrity and professionalism at all times in dealings with guests and employees.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or directed.
  • Embody mission, vision and values of the hotel daily.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
  • Bachelor degree.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred.
  • 5+ years hotel and hospitality industry experience.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Possess a high level attention to detail and able to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, including the ability to present one on one and in large groups.
  • Basic computer skills, including OPERA.
