Position Summary:

The Sr. Network Architect is responsible for detailed architecture planning, design, and ongoing network support. This individual is the go-to technical resource for IT network systems, including LAN/Wi-Fi, WAN and telephony systems. The right candidates will possess a combination of strong technical competencies with proven technical leadership and solid planning skills with a proven track record leading a disciplined support team that places stability and reliability as their primary objective. Attention to detail is critical.

Job Duties:

  • Develops new and modifies existing network platform capabilities to support business processes by mapping network platform/infrastructure components, identifying dependencies across systems/platforms and managing network infrastructure security, availability, recoverability, performance, integrity, and supportability.

  • Develop multi-cloud networking frameworks that covers IaaS, SaaS, PaaS, private data center, corporate and guest SDWAN environments.

  • Develop private cloud and public cloud networking strategy and design principles.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders from businesses, applications and platforms teams and capture requirements.

  • Develop cloud migration strategy for network environments.

  • Ensure ongoing monitoring of the network and ensure service level agreements are maintained. Provide appropriate analytics. 

  • Build and maintain relationships with IT leaders and business executives to develop a clear understanding of business needs, ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services to meet those needs, and responding with agility to changing business priorities.

  • Develop and effectively manage a 5-year architectural plan, including budget for capital expenditures and an annual zero-based operational budget. 

  • Work closely with the VP of Security (CISO), VP of Technology & Innovation and Sr Director IT Infrastructure to ensure the security of our infrastructure.

  • Remain current with emerging technology and its applicability to our business. Conduct research and develop a culture of innovation and exploration. 

  • Ensure network configurations are backed-up or replicated and we are well prepared to recover systems following a disaster event. 

  • Analyze network Service Desk ticket information and seek continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Take point on urgent or complex network issues, ensuring appropriate actions are taken and root cause is determined. Act as an escalation point for all network team support matters.

  • Acts as a network technology evangelist in Irvine Company, driving adoption of innovative solutions and consulting on complex issues to future-proof operations infrastructure strategies.

  • Exceptional leadership skills; ability to develop and communicate an infrastructure vision that inspires and motivates staff.

  • Exceptional network troubleshooting skills and issue resolution leadership.

  • Excellent analytical, strategic conceptual thinking, strategic planning, and execution skills.

  • Deep understanding of current and emerging cloud-based technologies, including how other enterprises are employing them.

  • Success in leveraging traditional best practices, such as IT service management practices based on ITIL, as well as DevOps that are optimized for agility.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute a strategic people plan, ensuring that employees are highly engaged and motivated.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts and technologies to business leaders and business concepts to the infrastructure team.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems management, or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of network architecture, 15+ years of IT experience.

  • Experience with Ruckus, Google (GCP and G-Suite), Palo Alto, Aruba Clearpass, RingCentral, Cisco and Contact Centers. Former Network and Cloud Architect or Engineer experience a plus.

  • Extensive knowledge of running, maintaining cloud-based and hybrid services.

  • Proven experience or demonstrated capability in leading IT transformational initiatives in complex and dynamic environments.

  • Extensive knowledge managing outsourced service providers.

  • Exceptional understanding and certification of ITIL frameworks and lean principles.

  • Experience with creating and executing network disaster recovery plans.

  • Experience with managing carrier relationships and negotiating carrier contracts.

  • Experience managing Telecom Expense Management (TEM) providers and auditing Carrier spend.

  • Great problem solver.
