Position Summary:

We are looking for a Director to provide strategic Human Resources (HR) support to Hotel Irvine. The Director will report to the Vice President of HR for the Resorts Division, and will be responsible for providing human resources support and guidance to senior leaders and associates enabling them to accomplish their business objectives. He/she will act as a trusted advisor and coach and will be proactive in working with them to successfully manage employee relations matters while maximizing engagement, retention, and performance. The Director will be responsible for leadership coaching, employee relations/investigations, engagement, organizational development and design,  facilitation, and talent planning practices.

Job Duties:
  • Partner with the General Manager and Executive Team to develop and execute a comprehensive HR strategy.
  • Partner with the General Manager and Executive Team to ensure the Three C’s (Care, Collaboration and Commitment) are an active way of life at the hotel.
  • Provide an environment where we value talent via the guiding principles of Attract , Develop, Engage and Retain.
  • Lead the organization with its focus on employee engagement.
  • Ensure effective employee relations support, including conducting internal investigations.  Ensure timely and appropriate response to all employee relations issues.
  • Advise business leaders on effective talent management and succession planning, and lead the talent planning efforts for client groups.
  • Facilitate team and leadership development sessions.
  • Lead HR projects that provide impact to the business.
  • Ensure appropriate corporate governance and compliance.  Respond to issues and advise leaders on compliance and employment law.
  • Continue to enhance HR policies, standards and services.
  • Collaborate with HR centers of expertise (Talent Acquisition, HRIS, Comp/Benefits, HR Operations, Compliance and Learning & Organization Development) for service delivery to clients.
  • Create active dialog, coaching and feedback, and provide solutions to business leaders.
  • Responsible for roll out and oversight of HR programs and processes such as compensation planning, incentive and compensation program implementations, goal planning, career development, engagement survey planning, etc.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent experience. Master’s Degree or MBA preferred.
  • 10+  years of  HR Business Partner experience.
  • 3-5 years of people leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in major HR technical areas, particularly managing employee relations/labor relations matters, conducting employee relations investigations, HR operations, learning and development, talent acquisition, talent management, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, performance management and employee engagement.
  • Ability to drive and facilitate organizational change.
  • Strong coaching and influencing skills. 
  • Strong emotional intelligence and ability to facilitate effective working relationships.
  • Hands-on, approachable communicator who enjoys spending time with key stakeholders, colleagues and team members. 
  • Strong communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong project management skills with experience developing and implementing strategic initiatives.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
