Position Summary:

The Director of Business Intelligence, in partnership with business stakeholders, will lead the mission of defining, developing and delivering data-driven insights to meet current and future business needs of the Irvine Company. The ideal candidate will be the go-to expert for the data and analytics ecosystem, and a cross-functional teammate that advises on the best practices in leveraging data and insights in support of the business. As a thought leader and collaborator, the candidate is expected to be equal parts technical data engineer and savvy business analyst. The candidate must have a track record of building teams that span both business and technical competencies, gathering business requirements and creating BI and analytics solutions that have measurable customer impact. Finally, this role requires a strong sense of ownership and confidence to communicate and gain consensus across multiple levels of management and solutions delivery teams.

Job Duties:

  • Develop, evangelize and drive adoption of Enterprise reporting standards, processes, best practices, frameworks and decision guides across business stakeholders and technology teams.
  • Evaluate current state data platform architectures and landscape to identify opportunities to rationalize, consolidate and migrate legacy systems towards a go-forward modern data platform that can lead to improved operational efficiency, productivity, and reduced ongoing maintenance/support as well as total cost of ownership.
  • Align and collaborate with internal stakeholders on strategic priorities related to reporting and analytics across the organization. Foster strong relationships with business stakeholders and cross-functional partners to continue driving analytics adoption and sponsorship.
  • Drive technical innovation by conducting research to monitor industry trends, explore and evaluate new technologies, emerging tools, approaches, methodologies to continuously improve the overall capabilities of a modern data stack.
  • Oversee services for Production support of the business intelligence landscape and Operations support of all tools, components, frameworks, processes, jobs, objects, applications, services, reports/dashboards etc.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree and a minimum of 10+ years of data and information management experience with detailed knowledge of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures, and SQL.
  • Ability to run large-scale cross-functional Data initiatives, while managing a team of 3-5 data analysts and Data warehouse architects.
  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms and managed services, data lakes, data warehousing, analytics tools, and data visualization capabilities.
  • Confident presence in executive-facing situations, polished verbal and written presentations, effective interpersonal skills, and strong collaboration skills, to partner effectively with teams throughout the organization.
  • Advanced experience with BI reporting tools (e.g. Tableau, Google Data Studio, Alteryx).
  • Knowledge of modern cloud-native data warehouses in Google Cloud Platform.
  • Real estate experience is a plus.
