Position Summary:

This is a unique opportunity to work in an owner-managed, privately held real estate company with some of the most talented professionals in the industry.  With a focus on reinvestment of the existing portfolio and development activities in Southern California (Orange County and San Diego markets), Irvine Company is seeking a Development Associate to join the Office Properties team. He / she will report to the Senior Director, Development and will be expected to support new and ongoing project activity, strategic initiatives, and enhancement of overall Development team productivity and efficiency.

Job Duties:

•    Support Office Properties’ ground-up development and reinvestment efforts
•    Coordinate efforts of Development, Finance & Analytics, Construction, Leasing and Operations teams during design, entitlements, permitting, physical construction, lease-up and operations start-up
•    Support Office Properties Development team through best project management practices including creation and distribution of agendas, meeting minutes and monitoring discrete and major project milestones/deadlines
•    Prepare capital requests and development feasibility studies including supporting pro forma and other required financial analytics
•    Support strategic initiatives led by senior portfolio growth team members
•    Monitor competitive development and leasing market activity
•    Work with internal research group and external sources to gather/evaluate market research
•    Coordinate with internal financial analysis and planning groups to report on periodic project budget expenditures and future business planning efforts

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

•    Bachelor’s degree in real estate, business, finance, engineering, design/planning, or related field required.
•    One to three years of commercial office experience with a background ideally in acquisitions, due diligence, development, and financial analytics.
•    Detail-oriented and quantitative approach to the real estate business, coupled with the ability to assume a long-term owner’s perspective and passion for real estate development.
•    Self-starter with strong ability to manage simultaneous projects from conception through completion pursuant to budget, schedule, and design requirements.
•    Strong organizational skills with the ability to balance competing project and organizational priorities, and work well with a variety of personalities and time constraints.
•    Superior written and verbal communication skills.
•    Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Suite of Applications.
•    Preferred familiarity with municipal processes and real estate terminology
