Position Summary:

The Chief Engineer will work directly with the Director of Engineering in achieving the key results while maintaining the vision of Hotel Irvine. This individual would be tasked with maintaining the proper functionality, safety, and emergency systems of the facility and exterior. As such they will be responsible for performing the following tasks listed below to the highest standards.


By performing these tasks this individual will be directly involved with supporting Hotel Irvine’s ongoing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability

Job Duties:

The Chief Engineer is responsible for the day to day operations of the engineering department. The Chief will assist the director with the administrative, financial, and operational aspects of the hotel. The ideal candidate must know the intricacies of plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC, carpentry, as well as high rise building operations. There must be a strong understanding of the hospitality industry and maintenance related issues. The Chief will also be asked to assist in major repairs and improvements to the facility. The Chief will supervise and train all other engineers in customer service, operation procedures, and follow up with completed work in conjunction with the supervisor.


Communication is paramount; skills of both written and verbal should be utilized via any effective medium to disseminate information across the engineering department and other affected departments.


The Chief Engineer is to work with all hotel departments. This individual must have the innate ability to know what needs to be done, has the initiative and drive to do so, and can be done with little to no supervision. This position requires assisting in developing and achieving plans to maintain the property, equipment, grounds and other assets in a safe and sufficient state of repair.


The Chief Engineer will adhere to the department standards as well as all applicable safety standards. Furthermore, follow up and guest satisfaction should be of the upmost importance and as an understanding of the vision and direction of Hotel Irvine

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

Education and/or Experience- Experience in the hospitality industry or similar industry is mandatory with at least five years in progressive facilities maintenance experience in a hotel or related field and at least three years in related management experience.


Mathematical Skills – Basic Math


Language Skills- Bilingual in English/Spanish is helpful. Ability to read and understand simple instructions. Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one or small group situation.


Reasoning Ability- Deductive/Inductive Reasoning, analysis reasoning and resourcefulness to know what is needed to accomplish a task


Other Skills and Abilities- Communication, progressive hospitality mindset, organization skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, competent computer skills
