Position Summary:
The Accountant position is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financial records and providing transparent and accurate financial information used by stakeholders. The role is a key part of the accounting team, primarily focused on executing essential daily and monthly accounting activities. This position leverages expertise in systems like SAP, OneSite, BlackLine, and WellsOne to troubleshoot discrepancies, perform root cause analysis, and ensure data integrity across all applications. Success in this role requires a proactive approach coordinating with internal and external teams (including offshore consultants), and overseeing impactful accounting processes with an emphasis on compliance and adherence to control procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage accounting functions and journal entries related to month-end close responsibilities, including determining coding for and booking portfolio-wide deposits (rebates, vendor refunds), utility refunds and clearing Corporate Credit Card (P-Card) suspense accounts to proper income statement accounts.
- Manage the full deposit cycle for desktop deposit process, including daily deposits (log, research, G/L coding and deposit), and oversee the monthly completion of the centralized check log and subsequent review and approval of offshore consultant journal entries.
- Oversee the reconciliation process between property management and accounting software, which involves troubleshooting tie out issues and coordinating resolution with internal IT resources.
- Support the bank reconciliation process using BlackLine, including responding to offshore consultant inquiries and driving advanced issue resolution (GL/Bank discrepancies) by coordinating with internal (Centralized Resident Services) and third-party software support.
- Prepare and manage monthly/quarterly balance sheet reconciliations and oversee the security deposit payable reconciliation process, including reviewing offshore consultant deliverables, driving advanced issue resolution and directing Centralized Resident Services on corrective action on Final Account Statements.
- Create and publish the monthly exception miscode report and act as the primary point-of-contact for internal community management inquiries.
- Serve as the WellsOne expense platform Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide division-wide support, including maintaining Chart of Accounts and cost centers, reporting miscodes to stakeholders and addressing non-policy usage of corporate credit cards.
- Manage the review of the stale-dated check register for unclaimed property disposition, coordinate the reissue of refunds and determine handling of special requests, such as roommate releases.
Additional Skills:
- Proficient in the creation and use of intermediate formulas in Excel, pivot tables, VLOOKUP and SUMIFS.
Preferred Education:
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent experience), Accounting degree preferred

Base Pay Range: $83,100.00 - $100,500.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
