Position Summary:

Our Director of Banquets will be the composer responsible for leading a team and conducting a vision to ensure the successful execution and expectations of banquets for our guests.


Entrusted with caring for every detail during our guests function and they are responsible for the entire operational service of all group, social, banquet and planned food and beverage events. Though skillfully trained, they never lose sight of their ultimate reasonability, to create lifelong memories for our guests.


A day in the life of our Director of Banquets demands high levels of energy in order to keep up. They need consistency even though the days are never alike; and creativity to tackle daily adventures. Listing all of the tasks that our Director of Banquets accomplish would be lengthy but the list below is essential to know.


Job Duties:

  • Manage Banquets team.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and motivate teams to work together to ensure success.
  • Direct and manage the entire operation while being a gracious host to all guests and providing best in class service.
  • Develop and maintain all training programs on a continual basis to ensure a high degree of professionalism within the staff.
  • Coordinate and ensure the needs of the Catering department with the managers of interrelated departments.  Will partner and coordinate with external catering companies as well.
  • Post all contracted function sheets and gives instructions to Assistants, Captains or Staff to ensure the success of the function.
  • Organize and orchestrate any last minute changes or details to functions.
  • Attend regular catering meetings to obtain information of the upcoming contracted functions.
  • Conduct monthly departmental meetings to provide vital information to the private events staff, obtain staff feedback regarding the department itself, and provide a regular forum for improving departmental communication.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • 3-5+  years experience as a Director of Banquets, including experience in all aspects of service and well versed in multiple set ups and service styles.
  • Ethnic events experience (weddings, reunions, etc.).
  • Previous experience working with external catering companies.
  • Excellent leadership, motivational, team building and training skills.
  • Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Possess creative, out of the box and forward thinking.
  • Must be able to adapt, react quickly and problem solve in any situation.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
