Position Summary:

The Vice President and Senior Counsel--Technology, Privacy and Intellectual Property will be responsible for providing Company-wide legal support in the areas of technology, IT contracting, IT security and data breach response, privacy law compliance, information governance and intellectual property matters. 

Job Duties:
  • Drafting and negotiating IT contracts and developing and maintaining an efficient IT contracting process;
  • Supervising IT contracts administrator;
  • Advising key stakeholders on legal matters relating to technology and data security;
  • Developing and maintaining an effective incident response plan and participating in incident response tabletop exercises;
  • Providing legal support in the event of potential data breaches;
  • Developing and maintaining compliance programs for the California Consumer Privacy Act;
  • Developing and maintaining an information governance structure/program;
  • Overseeing Company intellectual property, including registrations and policing potential infringing users:
  • Reviewing Company marketing materials for regulatory compliance and potential infringement; and
  • Promoting regulatory compliance under selected consumer protection statutes/regulatory schemes, e.g., background checks (ICRAA), marketing texts (TCPA), truth in advertising laws, etc.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in private practice at a leading law firm;
  • Broad exposure to technology, privacy, data governance and intellectual property matters;
  • Strong experience in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial contracts, including IT contracts;
  • Experience with real estate companies preferred; and
  • Targeted candidates include senior associates/counsel at leading law firms and current in house counsel with similar private practice experience.
