Position Summary:

The Vice President of Sales will align growth strategies and plans for the Resorts Division portfolio of hotels, marinas, and golf courses.  They will lead the business unit Directors of Sales and Marketing, and Corporate Director of Revenue Management to ensure each property develops and carries out action plans within the respective business unit. The plans and strategies will ensure we are maximizing our total resort revenue generation with an emphasis on group, business, and leisure travel. Work in partnership the Corporate Marketing team, Corporate Director of Revenue Management and Divisional President to develop and create strategies that drive results. The Vice President of Sales will report to the President, Resorts Division. 

Job Duties:

  • Build a high performing sales culture through selection, training, development and recognition
  • Develop and implement local, regional and national revenue generating strategic initiatives
  • Provide visible leadership and communications to the sales organization and to the business units in the portfolio
  • Drive results through the hotel sales teams by ensuring sales goals, targets and forecasts are developed and executed
  • Lead the Corporate Director of Revenue Management to maximize Top Line Revenues and Market Share
  • Collaborate with hotel General Managers to align with the development of strategies and objectives to achieve targeted results in each hotel or business unit
  • Work in partnership with business unit Director of Sales and Marketing teams on public relations efforts for Resorts Division
  • Facilitate successful implementation of new programs through the sales and distribution organization by ensuring a well-defined, efficient sales process
  • Oversee the development of annual resort business sales and marketing plans and evaluate timely adjustment of targeted strategies to meet changing market and competitive conditions
  • Enforces sales department and company policies and procedures in accordance with Company’s standards
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies, training programs, and applicable laws
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationship with key Irvine Company stakeholders
  • Promote positive relations with partners, vendors and distributors
  • Make recommendations on any improvements in business operations

In addition to the above, this individual needs to have a strong foundation for independent/autonomous thought and action. S/He will have a reputation of exemplifying the highest standards of integrity, honesty and discretion. The individual should be highly confident of their abilities and be considered a detail-oriented person who can tackle numerous projects simultaneously. S/He must be a self-motivated, well-organized, and results-driven professional who leads by example. They will be mature and aggressive, with a demonstrated ability to be a leader and a “doer.”  S/He must be a creative problem solver and an implementer of ideas. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic and be willing to do “what it takes” to get the job done.

Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years of Multi property oversight responsibility in a high volume environment
  • Consistent history of leading sales at full service and Luxury hotels to achieve sales goals period-over-period (quarterly/annually)
  • Experience with Independent hotels preferred
  • Proven success with meeting/exceeding quarterly forecasts, annual goals and sales plans
  • Demonstrated leadership skills including creating constructive development plans with a strong ability to hold direct reports accountable for results in sales
  • Excellent communication skills with Irvine company leaders, peers, hotel leadership and  associates; approachable, motivational, and a positive personality
  • Ability to multi-task, follow through and re-prioritize well to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge of Delphi, Smart Sheets, Navis, Top Line, Google Suite preferred
