Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Design reporting to Senior Director, Design will oversee interior design projects for apartment properties within our portfolio, encompassing both new developments and reinvestment projects. The ideal candidate is an experienced interior designer with a strategic mindset and a collaborative spirit. Key responsibilities include project scoping, budgeting, design brief generation, consultant management, presentation preparation, specification of fixtures and finishes, FF&E purchasing, construction quality control, and design implementation. This role requires a creative problem solver with strong design skills and a passion for creating memorable, attractive, and livable residential communities.
Job Duties:
Design Excellence
- Demonstrate a strong desire to create memorable and attractive residential communities.
- Showcase excellent design skills with a refined aesthetic sensibility.
- Creatively solve design problems independently and collaboratively.
Technical Proficiency
- Interpret architectural working drawings, details, and other technical design documents.
- Possess a basic knowledge of building, energy, and accessibility codes.
Communication and Management
- Exhibit excellent verbal, written, and drawing communication skills.
- Manage multiple projects and stakeholders with confidence.
- Assist Supervisor in correspondence and/or meetings with external consultants
Workflow Facilitation
- Collaborate with project managers to facilitate design workflow, milestone scheduling, and cost control.
- Oversee external consultants responsible for planning, design, and procurement.
- Assist in organizing, preparing, and presenting design materials for Senior Management review and approval.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration
- Coordinate with the broader Design Studio team to integrate Interior Design with other disciplines (architecture, landscape, signage, lighting, etc.).
- Educate various groups on design trends and translate them into current needs while aligning with the company’s brand and vision.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
- Bachelor's degree.
- 10 years experience as an Interior Designer or Interior Architect in designing apartment/multi-family, hospitality and/or residential mixed-use projects.
- Valid driver’s license; valid vehicle insurance.
- This role requires the regular and frequent operation of a vehicle, as defined in the Company's MVR policy, and is part of the essential duties of this position.
- Proficient in the use of design-related software applications such as AutoCad, Revit, Bluebeam, Photoshop.
- Proven track record of working cohesively with various teams and departments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to gain the trust and confidence of colleagues across all company levels.
- Resilience and adaptability to thrive in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
Compensation:
Base Pay Range: $110,700.00 - $144,800.00
Actual placement within this range may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
