Position Summary:

The Sr. Communications Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing internal communication

programs and activities to engage and inform employees across Irvine Company. The position is responsible for supporting HR-related communication needs in collaboration with the Director, Communications. The Sr. Communications Specialist will work collaboratively across the HR team to keep employees aligned with and informed of HR programs and initiatives using various communication channels and methods. The position will also contribute to recruitment marketing and advertising programs.

Job Duties:
  • Work with key stakeholders within Human Resources to develop content and updates for internal communication and recruitment marketing channels including email, intranet, video, social media, etc.
  • Work with the HR team and business partners as needed to deliver end-to-end communications plans for employee announcements and news
  • Collaborate with HR leaders on the development of internal communications strategies, tactics, messaging and collateral
  • Create content for company news, HR initiatives and programs, presentations, message/talking points and recruitment marketing materials and ensure they are delivered through the appropriate channel, often with fast turnaround time
  • Provide copywriting and editing support for all HR communications
  • Partner with creative and technical teams to align copy and visuals for internal communications and recruitment marketing materials
  • Develop relationships within and across the company to support the organization's objectives
  • Manage work independently, with self-direction, organization and advance planning on all programs, while engaging leadership to remove hurdles and garner buy-in
  • Apply standards that promote continuity and consistency across the organization's communications practices
  • Explore, recommend, use and optimize communication methods and technologies to engage employees
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of communications experience.
  • Experience in communications, marketing or social media is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellence with writing for employee engagement and broad-based communication.
  • Self-starter, independent thinker with excellent follow-through, requiring minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, capable of problem-solving and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects and programs simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in person and by phone with high professionalism.
  • Excellent collaboration & teaming skills with ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments from a variety of staff.
  • Strong proficiency in Google Productivity Suite (Docs, Slides, Drive, etc) or MS Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Proficiency with writing for social media
  • Strong work ethic, professionalism, business judgment and keen attention to detail
  • Strategic thinker, able to balance specific communications needs with broader Irvine Company messages
  • Strong interpersonal skills, comfortable working with employees at all levels and has experience providing recommendations to senior leaders
